Trend Watch: Pearls
Prepare to start digging through your Mum’s old jewellery box, as pearls are set to be the next big thing this upcoming season. Spotted on fashion editors and bloggers alike, if you’re looking for your next investment, make sure it’s adorned with pearls. To save you the searching, here at Paradise Row we’ve broken down the top three ways to be wearing your pearls this season.
1. The traditional, revisted
Pearls are being well and truly revisited this season, ranging from the gawdy traditional beaded necklace to the minimalist, simple stud (think clean lines, long thin stems and geometrical shapes). Whether you’re championing the full 80’s revival and layering up or doing more like renowned blogger Jiawa Liu and keeping it simple, whatever style you’re going for, start with pearls. Perfectly paired with a good pair of blue jeans for luxury vs. leisure
2. Fancy Feet
Chanel’s Cruise 16/17 and Autumn-Winter 16/17 collections were peppered with pearl adornments, not least of which were the footwear. Embellishment abound, Chanel dotted stars with pearl centres, filled geometrical gaps in heels with larger pieces and decorated velvet sandals with surely, the most luxurious of extra details. And who could forget those iconic mid-heel Gucci loafers, with pearl-accent heels and the now-renowned Marmont GG’s on the toe. The word is well and truly in – if you’re into pearls this season, then fancy feet are the way to go.
3. Wear pearls with History
Paradise Row is a brand rooted in history. Every bag from the recently released CORE collection is handmade in East London, and each features an individual pendant reminiscent of a piece of East London heritage. The Pearly is inspired by the Pearly Kings and Queens (Pearlies), an established charity from working class culture dedicated to helping the poor of London. The Pearlies would wear fully embellished costumes, adorned with none other than pearls. Channelling this inspiration with a minimalist approach, The Pearly is made from 100% Italian leather, featuring understated 12 carat gold hardware and a pearl pendant. An everyday and flexible approach to the pearl trend, The Pearly will fit easily into any wardrobe.
