Paradise Row Places: Sager + Wilde

On a quaint cobbled backstreet in Bethnal Green, away from the hustle and bustle of the main road, you can find Sager + Wilde. The Brit + Euro fusion restaurant, on the charming Paradise Row, joins the selection of trendy bars and restaurants under the railway arches.

After Sager + Wilde's first success on Hackney Road, owner Michael Sager opened another restaurant on the growing scene of a backstreet in Bethnal Green.

Famous for its renowned selection of wines, customers will be pleased to know the wine list here features over 400 bottles. The extensive list includes a wide variety of red, white and even orange wines from around the world.

Head Chef Chris Leach, formerly of Kitty Fisher, has added a modern twist to the menu which boasts a selection of seasonal, well sourced and imaginative dishes. For those on a budget, you can enjoy a £10 deal which includes a bowl of pasta and a glass of house wine or Negroni. This is available at lunchtime and evenings. They also serve a Brunch menu.

Inside, the restaurant decor is simple and stylish. Think industrial-chic with bare-wood tables and high-back chairs. The vibe is inviting with low-hanging bulbs and candles flickering on the tables. The bar dominates the room with the growing selection of wine displayed behind it.

There’s also a cocktail lounge if you head upstairs, designed like a study, with bookcases and leather sofas. Behind the bar, you’ll find London’s top mixologist, Marcis Dzelzanis, formerly of Dandelyan. There are plenty of cocktails to choose from including a few unusual mixes such as Burnt Maple and Baked Apple.

If that’s not enough, the dining options spread outside onto a terrace with a formal dining area that flows out of the main restaurant and a more casual setting of wooden benches. Why not make the most of the warm summer evenings with alfresco dining on the terrace?
